If you have stumbled across this page by accident, and have no idea what a Geocache is, please read on. Geocaching is a sort of "treasure hunt" using a GPS receiver. People go out and hide small stashes of various items somewhere and get a GPS fix on the location using their GPS receiver. They will then post the latitude and longitude of the cache on the Geocaching Home Page for others to see. Then people go out, using their GPS receivers, and try to locate the cache. Once found, you are to take an item from the cache and leave something in it's place. For more information on Geocaching, please visit the Geocaching Home Page.

The Tehachapi Treasure — March 18, 2001
Hidden by Chris Kielich - K6CF & Neil Jessen - N6VHF

The idea of the location for this cache was to get people to check out the Tehachapi Loop. The Loop is a part of the Union Pacific Railroad tracks where it is too steep for the trains to climb the hill. So they installed a loop in the tracks where the trains go through a tunnel, wrap around and actually cross back over themselves. This allows them to climb the steep section of the hill without the tackling the grueling grade. This site is world famous among train buffs with people coming from all over the world to visit. We wanted to hide the cache right at the Loop, but due to the high amount of pedestrian activity, we decided to hide it down the road a piece.
